05 Feb Nix Law P.A.
Perhaps it’s the combination of exuberance, witty intellect, or her southern charm, but after one conversation with Attorney Nix, her passion and determination make an indelible impression. A country girl at heart, Mikaela spent large amounts of time on her family’s country farm in Rochelle, FL, a town pioneered by her forebearers. Ms. Nix is equally comfortable on the back of her favorite horse as she is advocating for clients in the courtroom. Her firm, Nix Law, P.A. is a family law practice committed to supporting family values, ones deeply ingrained on her persona, as a result of the roles her mother and father played in her life. She believes that a key way to restore family values is by supporting Fathers’ who want to play a meaningful and involved role in their children’s lives.
Mikaela graduated from the University of Central Florida with honors and Florida A&M’s Law School, where she was a member of the 2007-2008 Moot Court team. Orlando is her permanent home due to Mikaela’s wholehearted belief that Orlando is truly “The City Beautiful.” Since her admission to the Florida bar, Mikaela has built a thriving law practice. Relentless in her beliefs and committed to her clients, Attorney Nix is quickly being recognized as one of Orlando’s premier family law attorney’s. She is a member of the Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court as well as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. Yet there is more.
Ms. Nix is also a consummate businesswoman, thanks to her natural acuity and her participation in UCF’s incubator program. Before opening her firm she ran Collegiate Staffing USA, which was featured in Florida Trend’s July 2011 Education issue. Collegiate Staffing allowed employers to begin to develop prospective future employees but also provided students with actual work experience skill sets that contributed positively to their marketability upon graduation.
Ms. Nix is a well-regarded member of Orlando’s professional community, and as such, she sits on the Board of Governor’s for the private Citrus Club and is a current member of the Board of Governor’s Nominations Committee. She is active in the political arena, and is of the opinion, that a brighter day awaits those who value the energy and dedication that younger professionals bring to shaping a responsive government.
Young people are attracted to her energy, and like any true leader, she seeks to help others realize their true potential. Mikaela believes that exposure to agrarian lifestyles can be highly beneficial to today’s youth, who rarely experience the joys and simplicity of country living; to that end, she hosts a summer kids-oriented event on her family property. Attorney Nix recently hosted her First Annual WeLoveDaddy.com Father’s Appreciation event at Orlando Grand Prix where Fathers or men playing a Father’s role and their children were able to enjoy a free day of races, food, face painting, and jump house fun. Also, she still manages to find time to volunteer, motivate the Orlando Juvenile Justice Center kids, and to teach College Success as an adjunct professor at both Seminole State College and Valencia College.
Ms. Nix is not just committed to being a great attorney, but to her Christian beliefs, and thus is active in her church home. Her mission? To use her varied background, her talent, her networking and business acumen; a better Orlando, a better Florida, a better place to raise children and enjoy the city we call home.
