22 Jan Orange County Charter Review Commission appointees revealed
The names of the appointees for the next Orange County Charter Review Commission were released today, and it features some familiar faces, including a former County Commissioner, Clerk of Courts, and a couple of candidates for office.
The Duties of the CRC described as “Empowered to conduct a comprehensive study of any or all phases of County Government. The CRC, may during it’s term, place proposed amendments or revisions to the Orange County Charter on the ballot at any general election.”
This means that the commission has the ability to send “game-changing” revisions to the voters, it’s a powerful political body, that can change the landscape of county politics. Each commissioner gets two appointees, and the Mayor gets three.
Here are the names below…
District 1 Commissioner Scott Boyd: Edward DeAguilera Robert Mellen
District 2 Commissioner Bryan Nelson: Frederick Brummer Doug Gondera
District 3 Commissioner Pete Clarke: Eddie Fernandez Mikaela Nix District
District 4 Commissioner Jennifer Thompson: Pasquale “Pat” DiVecchio Maribel Gomez Cordero
District 5 Commissioner Ted Edwards: Matthew Klein Cheryl Moore
District 6 Commissioner Victoria Siplin: Gail Cosby Walter Hawkins
Mayor Teresa Jacobs: Stina D’Uva Jose Fernandez Kevin Shaughnessy.
Notable names include former County Commissioner Fred Brummer, who was succeeded by Commissioner Nelson in district 2, and former Orange County Clerk of Courts Eddie Fernandez. Former candidates include Edward DeAguilera who ran for State Senate last year, and former Orange County Commission candidate Maribel Cordero. Cordero, was actually one of Thompson’s opponents in her last reelection campaign.
